Role: Senior Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Manager (MEP)

Location: Bucharest, Romania

Career History:
Joined Bovis Lend Lease in August 2000 but have been doing this job for the last year.

I hold a BSc. in Engineering (Public Works and MEP Building Installations). I started work in the construction field as the technical manager for the Romanian branch of an International electrical equipment manufacturer. My previous roles include: MEP Manager for the GlaxoSmithKline project in Brasov, Romania and working as MEP Manager on the Phillip Morris project in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Why did you decide to join Bovis Lend Lease?
The opportunity offered by an international environment and the challenge of the proposed project.

What does your job involve?
I am responsible for the overall monitoring of the MEP Contractor’s work on site. This includes identification of the demarcation problems between the Contractors with co-ordination and solution finding, analysing the drawings and recommending the changes into final design documentation, participating in value engineering workshops, evaluating the Contractors' method statement and workmanship, supervising the quality of the work, approving work progress and applications for payment.

A typical day would start with me checking my emails, updating the action list and sending correspondence. I then spend time with my team discussing the work to be done. I’ll spend time with the Contractor discussing the areas of work and check against the execution schedule. This is usually followed by a site tour: checking safety and assessing the progress and quality of the work.

Can you give an example of a project you have worked on recently?
